I don't think Nintendo would profit from such an acquisition more so than working with them as a partner. All it would be doing is removing some games from competiting platforms, which probably won't improve Nintendo's position much.
Someone mentioned Square-Enix above. THAT would be a much better move. Exclusive access to Square Enix's backlogue, the ability to have exclusive remakes... It also means that Tetsuya Takahashi would gain the rights to produce an official Xenogears game once again.
