Why on earth anyone with half a brain would have picked the Saints last night is beyond me. I was going to make a grocery list of reasons that the Falcons were going to win before the game, but then I noticed that most of the members that picked the Saints were close to me in the prediction league and I didn't need to give any of you guys any help. |
Hmm, you're right. Brees didn't fake an injury and then sulk on the sideline for the rest of the game, so I guess my analogy was a tad off. I'll amend it to say "he had five Cutler-esque moments." I'm glad we've reached this happy compromise.
Rol's already covered the second paragraph, but since Brees came to the Saints that team has only lost to the Falcons three times out of fourteen (including last night's game). Since Week 6 of last season the Falcons are 1-3 against the Saints (inluding last night), and 18-1 against everybody else. The sole reason they won last night is because Brees ket giving the ball away, both early and late. I know you only watched the end of the game, but after an uncharacteristic implosion the Saints were completely dominant in the second and third quarter, and would have added on an extra seven points at the half if not for a bone-headed penalty by Graham (I believe), and an extra three if Brees had either thrown the ball away or had an extra second of gametime. In spite of all that, they still had a chance to pull one out at the end.
Unless your grocery list said "Brees was going to going to play his worst game every, and by a large margin to boot," then it wouldn't have amounted to much.
