Okay, that's not what you were saying at first.
Anyways, the padlet is pretty light, and I admit this is the "core" gamer setup, so I wouldn't expect kids to use it. But, the whole point of it feeling like a shield would require it to have some kind of weight. It weighs 1.1 pounds, which is just 3 times heavier than the wii-mote.
As a secondary control input I think that's a reasonable weight.
