It felt to me that they were just trying to pay tribute to Bond instead of having him evolve. That was the only thing that saved it for me. I felt like I have seen those moves before. I understand that they were showing bond as a broken, older version of himself. What do you expect from an opening scene? You expect bond to win! When he heard her say take the shot he should have been aware of his location and moved the guy in front of the bullet. In fact the bond of the last two movies should have wiped the floor with that train riding hobo much faster than that!

I did not want to see bond start over again. We already say a reboot two movies ago. I liked the pace of those movies. Bond is a bad ass! When he shot Mr. White at the end of Royal I was floored with how bad ass that was! Now we have a bond who can barely hold on to an elevator. I just was not thrilled with it. I will watch it again at the dollar cinema to see if I was wrong. I owe Bond that much....dont I?

You know what's funny?  That's pretty much exactly how I feel about Die Another Day.  I felt that it was more of a tribute film then an actual film.  Every other second it seemed like there was a scene copying something in an earlier Bond movie but not as good.  And do we really have to get into Bond failing at the beginning of a movie?  He was captured, kept in prison in Korea, and never escaped.

About him having trouble holding on to an elevator, Ian Fleming always said that Bond should be able to do the improbable, but not the impossible.  Should he be in perfect shape after taking a bullet to the chest?  He isn't Superman.  He's a man.

Also, I didn't think that it was a reboot again.  That's not the impression I got at all.  I think that they just introduced two characters that hadn't come back since the reboot and Judi Dench apparently was done with playing the role so they gave her a send off.
