I feel exactly the opposite. 1 was bearable, all uphill from there. Or rather, it peaked at AC2, dropped down a bit for Brotherhood and Revelations, and then rose for AC3 but not up to AC2 levels (so 2 > 3 > Brotherhood > Revelations > 1).
I had the following problems with 1:
- Desmond was worthless, all he did was lie down and occasionally have Vidic gloat at him.
- Altair had that god awful American accent which was retconned in Revelations.
- Combat was clumsy.
- Other than the assassinations, you were just doing chores for the entire game, the same little tasks over and over again
- The 20-minute unskippable soliloquies every time you assassinated someone.
- A complete lack of notable side characters, except perhaps Al Mualim.
I felt that this was all fixed in AC2, which didn't really introduce any problems of its own. Do you disagree?
