Sales remained relatively the same, not even reaching a 2% growth from last week. Japan sales are down even further, barely above 4,000 while both NA and EU hold the system up with 22k and 31k respectively. Without Japanese sales the Vita will struggle to go any further than 4 million by the end of the year.
There was no significant software released this week, Nov 4th-10th, so sales are maintaining themselves from software support the week previously. Next week will include the software launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified and despite early critic reviews pinning the game at a disgraceful 29/100 the game is receiving strong attention from consumers as Call of Duty is the current largest franchise in gaming. It's fate will be determined by user support maintaining it as a multiplayer shooter option on Sony's new handheld.
There has never been a better time to purchase a Vita. Several stores are offering $199 CoD:BO:D bundles (limited edition rear touchpad graphics) including Walmart, Radio Shack, and Toys R Us. While Gamestop is offering the White Vita Assassin's Creed bundle for $199. Target has an alternative bundle of Lega Batman 2 with a black Vita for $199. All bundles are Wifi models.
PS Plus is also launching on the system Nov 20th, revealing an Instant Game Collection of Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Wipeout 2048, Jet Set Radio, Mutant Blogs Attack, and a PSP game Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions. In addition to Plus the 2.0 update will enhance the web browser's speed and add URL tweeting, provide an email app with system notification support, and allow for 1080p video playback.
The device has seen continual improvement from software support (PSone, PSP, PS Mobile) to OS updates (apps, features, efficient tweeks). While being a dedicated gaming device the Vita is maturing itself into a fully functional multi tool device that coincides with modern day expectation for handheld mobile devices.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
