Nintendo doesn't even offer to the same base demographic that Sony does. Sony taps into multimedia as well as casual and core gaming. Now Sony and Microsoft are sharing 140 consoles between them. That is closer to Sonys marketshare than Nintendo will ever be.


If I'm Nintendo honestly my goal is to finish a solid no.2.

If you can turn the Wii U into a break-out blockbuster craze like the Wii was six years ago, great, that's a nice to have.

But as a fall back plan, I'd be prepping to really leverage that year-long head start and cheaper price point to get a comfy no.2 spot for the majority of the next gen cycle as a minimum.

I'm not going to lose sleep if I'm Nintendo if MS is going to release some monster console that costs $600 to manufacture and they're willing to take a loss on it to basically "buy" their way into no.1.
