600k people bought the retail version of the game, this means there are now 600k real-life Animal Crossing boxes in people's homes. 200k people downloaded the game. It remains the same wether or not people first bought the download-card or they went to the eShop directly, it does prove people used and found things in the eShop one way or the other. These are all in the reported 200k, all of these units were downloaded over Nintendo's servers making them all digital sales and making the servers definitely capable of handling this much traffic. Iwata makes a clear distinction in what he's saying in the message. I don't see the problem or what's not to understand or whatever's going on.
