It's simple. Animal Crossing is better than Mario, pets, and Dr. Kawashima. :P
Anyway, I would not be surprised if AC:NL becomes the bestselling 3DS game in Japan rather quickly. I don't think anything short of Pokemon will unseat it, unless maybe Monster Hunter 4 does about as well as the PSP versions.

Mainly because (in my honest opinion) Nintendo's audience changed in Japan over the years. Maybe it's a proof the casual crowd is shrinking... but then again Animal Crossing is mainly mainstream and very accessible franchise that appeals to everyone... Maybe I should shut up XD Is there anyone with a pretty good explanation? Maybe because Dr. Kawashima received poor promotion, Nintendogs was a launch title and people got tired of NSMB games...
