That's an insufficient explanation. Why did it not outsell them last gen then, :P?
And AC's definitely gonna be the bestselling 3DS game for a period of time. For the record, even if MH does as well as the PSP versions - about 4 or 5 million - that probably won't be close to enough to match AC, which is currently projecting to hit over 12m in Japan alone (like that's gonna happen, xD), but should still end up with well over 6m if nothing goes too wrong. Of course, MH will probably do better than PSP versions, being on a more popular console, but I don't think it can beat this.
At this point, I'm not even sure if Pokemon can beat AC. I mean, DP did about 6m and BW's looking to die off at 5.5m-ish. Next Pokemon will have to beat this substantially to match what New Leaf looks like it'll manage.
