| Nem said: How does comparing a sandbox game like shenmue to a racer or a platformer make any sense to you?! He said the game is BORING, that there is nothing to do. That is far from beeing the truth. There is discovering, there is living in the game. Going to the arcade, working gathering money, training your skills, talking to people in the street, exploring every knook and cranny. There is much to do if you allow yourself to be imersed. He obviously didnt and brashly called the game boring. It is comparable to say a game like Minecraft or animal crossing are boring. He just doesnt get the game. Not getting is not the same thing as a boring game. So if he doesnt enjoy those aspects... what other aspects of sandbox games are left? I'm not saying he likes violence but he obviously like instant gratification because he cant imerse himself in the game world. |
How does one make a top 10? If he considered it boring, then it must be that he considers other games less boring (since he's a gamer after all), and his next posts mention games like Majora's mask, which is not a sandbox game. Excitement factor is comparable accross a range of game genres.

I agree with your second paragraph. I'm sure this comes to you as a surprise. I don't disagree with you on this point, I really disagree with the jumping to conclusions saying he only wants violent sandbox games.
You also don't know his opinion on AC or Minecraft but I do agree that it's likely given their similarities with Shenmue that he doesn't like them. But again, it's better to ask than to assume.

There are other things that can be done that he mentioned, like accelerating time. If you actually asked him, maybe he could answer that for you.
