But GT5 has been a $20 budget title for years. Impressive numbers in total but not as much revenue as you would think.

Huh, it hasn't even been out for years. It sold something like 6-7m in 2010 only (shipments)...at full price. Most of it has been at full price. Then factor in GT5P, which is basically free money in addition to the money GT5 brought in.

2010 shipments were 6.4 mill and the rest are at budget prices. So if the lifetime total ends at 11 million like some people here say, a big part of that is from small revenue copies.

Source? When did it drop in price?

Also, the same could be said for most games that reach 10m (except Nintendo games...)

My impression is that they overshipped because the game could be found in the bargain bins here in Sweden after just a few months.

Maybe your stores just wanted to give the consumer a super awesome deal... because as you can see PD has been shipping a consistant supply since launch

I dunno. It's constantly been very cheap since Spring 2011.

Nothing wrong with that though. Most "ever-green" games follow a similar pattern (ACII, GT4, Red Dead, Oblivion, Resi 5), selling for years and years regularly getting renewed shipments at a budget price.
