So to be "core", I have to ignore context? Damn....I haven't been a "core" game reviewer for the past 7 years.
Actually, I'm expecting it's graphics scores to be lower than other categories but in the review itself, it would be nice if more than just a small handful of us actually took a moment to elaborate on certain things. And that really goes beyond ZombiU but for all games. I like reviews (liek those I write) that really get you to understand the game rather than the usual, "I'm jaded/I'm a fan...so I'll hate on/gloss over...this game without really telling you anything." |
..but you feel no problem ignoring the context of this is an exclusive game built from the ground up for a new peice of hardware that is suppose to have significantly more power than current gen hardware?
see, context is a funny thing for a consumer. they just give two-shits that ubi overhauled things from it's previous "killer freaks" format. nor would they care if something horrible happened like the developer got hit my an eathquake/hurricane during dev which made development difficult. nope, there is only one context that matters -- is the product worth the money?
only fanboys will care about that kind of context. it's like playstation all-stars, no one really gives a fuck that activision owns the IP rights to crash bandicoot and it's not really up to sony about his inclusion in the game. all they care about is that a game that is supposed to be about seeing all of their favorite ps icons fight is missing one of their favorite ps icons.
as a fanboy of the gaming industry i love these details and context as much as you do but we're pretty much alone in that regard.
