Seriously. He can do almost everything, is almost invincible (only one way to kill him), and his costume isn't even cool. Who do you think is the worst superhero? By worst I don't mean least powerful, but the worst designed one or the one who just isn't fun at all. By popular I mean some of Marvel and DC's main ones. You can mention others if people should know who they are. |
Superman is my personal favorite superhero.
Yeah sure, he may be too powerful sometimes, depending on who's writing his story, but it's the character I like not his powers. His best stories rarely come down to him being stronger than his enemies. He usually has to out think the villains. Or more often than not he gets his ass handed to him by a villain that is either stronger than him or has found a way to weaken him so he must risk his life to save others.
Superman is the only superhero that I looked up to as a kid. He is the purest example of what a man should strive to be. Superman is kind, helpful, and above all else he cares about everyone more than he cares about himself.
I can understand people finding Superman boring when compared to the detective stories of Batman or the action thrillers of Spider-Man, and I do enjoy those as well. But for me Superman is speaks to me on a very personal level. Superman is an idea. He teaches us to be better than we where the day before. Like Jesus he wants us to be the best we can be and treat each other with mutual kindness and understanding.
Superman is the man I wanted to be when I grew up and still hope to be one day. Maybe that's why they call him the Man of Tomorrow.
