Meh, personally, I don't see a problem with the review, infact, I actually do think the gameplay needs to be changed, since just about every Halo fan seems to be a hypocrite when it comes to the topic, especially when compared to Call of Duty too, they say the Call of Duty games are more of the same and should be scored lower, whereas, I've played Halo 1 (And the remake), 3 and Reach, and they all felt the same in terms of gameplay, and yet people makes thread like, well, this, when a Halo game gets a low review, which is ridiculous, not to mention, in my opinion, atleast, a 7 is still a decent score for a game, above average, since in a thread I made, I did mention that scores are stupid, 7 and 8 are seen as being average, whereas on a 1-10, I'm pretty sure 5 should be average, but whatever... Anyway, back to what I was saying, I prefer the gameplay of Call of Duty compared to Halo, I'm not saying Halo is bad (I've got Halo 4 preordered, lol), but it feels too... outdated, compared to the shooter standards of today, and think it could do with a make over of some kind... obviously something like the gameplay of Killzone wouldn't suit it (Often compared as the "Halo of PS3", but they're way different if you ask me), but since both Halo and Call of Duty are arcade shooters in a sense, when it comes to multiplayer, I think Halo should... what's the word... "borrow" some mechanics from Call of Duty, I'm not sure what exactly, but when playing any Halo game, atleast in recent times (Halo remake and Halo Reach), I just feel like the gameplay has jumped and caught itself on the fence, not quite nailing it, y'know? Again, maybe it's just me, and people are free to disagree with me, but I don't see why someone with a different opinion to the majority should be hated on and such... even if their explanations as to why they dislike the game aren't quite as fleshed out as they could be, and come off a little negative... |
I'm a huge Halo fan and I have NEVER said that COD is more of the same or should get low scores. I like COD for what it is, but I love Halo for being what it is. I don't want COD mixed in with my Halo. If I want to play a linier game with big hollywood action movie fluff I'll play COD. When I want a perfectly balanced pure sci-fi experience with big sandbox levels I play Halo. If they took out the parts of Halo that make it different then all the rest it would lose what makes it so great.
I think the people who complain that COD or Halo doesn't change enough are really just the multiplayer gamers. They skip the campaign, (the part with all the new experiences) and play the multiplayer which is always going to be a refinment of the last version. Just like a sports game like Madden, you can't change the mulitplayer too much or it won't be the same game anymore. The people who complain about COD and Halo being only minor upgrades aren't looking the big picture.
I like COD and Halo much in the same was as I like tacos and pizza. But I hate Taco-Pizza so please don't get your COD in my Halo.
