As an owner of the both a Vita and 3DS; from my perspective the Vita has my attention much more than my 3DS.
at the moment for the 3DS I own(owned) Eight games since launch:

Resident Evil Revelations
Super Mario 3D land
Mario Kart 7
Tales of the Abyss
Kingdom Hearts 3D
and for my Vita I'm the track to surpassing that amount in it's first year.

Unit 13
Resistance Burning Skies
Gravity Rush
Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus
Super Stardust Delta
LBP Vita
and I will be getting(all paid off)
Ragnorak Odyssey
Persona 4: The Golden
AC: Liberations
The Vita does have the games(imo) unfortunately the games don't have the notoriety of the games the 3DS has, hopefully Sony puts the effort into the Vita like they did with the PS3, the Vita has alot of potential, hopefully the holiday season will be generous for the vita and along with an early price cut(hopefully) will keep the vita rolling
