I don't buy a console based on a single game but rather on a group of games considering the price of the console versus the price of the games.

If the price of all the games I want for that console is greater than or equal to the price of the console, I'll get the console. Mind you that I only consider games that are out at the time of purchase or are set to be released within a month or so.

Also mind you that I don't buy all these games, these are just the games I would like to have at some point. I do this because if one game sucks, I can still have a choice.

Wii (launch): The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2, Excite Truck, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Wario: Smooth Moves, and Red Steel is about $300 so plenty of games to justify getting the Wii at launch.

XBox 360 (late December 2006): Dead Rising, Gears of War, NCAA 2007, Viva Pinata, Kameo, and something else I can't remember for the life of me but it just squeaked by.

PS3 (about a year later for free): Uncharted, and that was even pushing the time limit on the released games rule.

Now Kameo is a perfect example ... it got great reviews , but its far from beeing called a popular game . Thats one of the few games ( OK , that and Gears ) that made me actually want a 360 at some point ...
