The idiots in charge should finally allow people to register one home console and one handheld on a single account and then merge the Virtual Console offerings of the home console and handheld to let people decide themselves which games they want to play on which system. And they should stop to appease third parties by not unleashing their full back catalogue of first party games.

Nintendo don't do technical solutions. If there's something they can code to make people's lives easier they deliberately avoid it.

In all seriousness, it appears that they're really just lazy. The Wii U's Virtual Console is literally going to be the Wii's Virtual Console, because they don't want to re-program and re-test the emulators/games. I'd imagine similar reasoning goes into why they're separating the 3DS' Virtual Console from the Wii/Wii U one.
Well, that and greed, of course.
