Yea, but this doesn't garentee that the 3DS will even top the DS.

Wii outperformed the PS2 consistantly for what, 5 years? Now Wii sales are dying and PS2 was selling 13 million at the same point in it's life.

For all we know 3DS could live a short life. GBA far outperformed the GB, and reached 80 million sales in a franction of the time, but was discontinued after only 3 years, despite a very strong software lineup.

 

BTW, I just noticed that VGC sales for PS2 are only marginally above shipped valuesr (153.6 is the shipment as of September 30th, 153.68 is VGC's figure).

For my Q3 Update I will use the shipped value of 153.6 million, add 1.5m for FY2011-Q3&4, use 0.8m for FY2012Q1, 0.7m for FY2012Q2, but subtract 1 million as the difference from sold/shipped. So I will basically put PS2 at 155.6 million. I'll have to calculate how that 2.0 million gain in the year spreads over Europe and USA and adapt VGC regional sales to reflect that, but you have convinced me that PS2 is performing well.

 

But I do hope that DS tops PS2.
