I think Wii U is perfect for hardcore gamers. It will offer something new for them to try as well as some titles you cannot experience on other consoles. To hardcore gamers, it doesn't matter whether or not you have A, B, or C. It's all about the experience of the game. If it weren't, you aren't a hardcore gamer, you are simply playing the title while limiting yourself.
To the "perceived" hardcore gaming community, the Wii U will still be good as it still supplies the potential to supply anything a "hardcore gamer" needs.
