Lol. I don't doubt your knowledge, but the effect Reggie's bizzare gaze has had on mental state of Nintendo fans has to be questioned Hopefully it's as simple as you say. I still think patching could potentially be a problem if you have saved games on the hard drive but have to patch externally due to space issues. Would the saved games have to be copied onto the external or could you just leave the external HDD plugged in and everything would be fine? Maybe I'm overthinking it. Semi-related, but I also have some doubts concerning the speed of USB 2.0 drives; for games that stream from the HDD do you think the USB 2.0 connection will bottleneck the data stream? |
Haha :D that's funny! Reggie is a nintendronephile.
The USB connection shouldn't slow things down, since the fastest blu-ray drive goes at 432Mb/s, and USB 2.0 goes at 480Mb/s. And even if it were slower (which it isn't
), it wouldn't be something that could be fixed over time regardless of what Nintendo learns. The question of does a patch/DLC that's on the other medium than the software work if the other is not connected, for that you just have to make sure that you have the right combination when you want to run the patch/DLC you want. It should be simple enough given the multi-Terrabyte EHDs people will likely buy for this application. But even with smaller EHDs, it's minimal management to keep DLC and DL'd games on the right medium. Eg it's not a biggie
.
