In theory, either of the partners in a gay relationship can have a child of their own through a surrogate mother. It's just that the child won't be biologically descended from both of them. And I remember reading somewhere about a breakthrough implying that two sperm cells being fused to begin fertilisation would be feasible, but I can't seem to find that at the moment.

And of course, a daughter would do just as well as a son in that regard.
