The Zapper, The Genesis 6-button controller, the PS1 Dual Shock, The Eyetoy, Kinect, Move--if 100% of the people owning the console can't be guaranteed to have all of the hardware, the software support will be extremely limited.

Woah, the 6-button and Dual Shock actually had "MUCH" support. Though taht was because they were more upgraded replacements than an option. They integreated with everything available and added new things.

Yeah, they were optional. For the Dual Shock, the only game on the PS1 that actually required DS Support was Ape Escape. They were options with some games but virtually never the default. You could own a 6-button Genesis controller or a Dual Shock and only occasional stumble across a title that supported it. Too many devs just didn't feel that supporting them was worth it. You could use the controller with anything but specifically supported software was never the norm. They were the Wii Motion Plus of the day (well, maybe not that bad).

I remember most PSX games at least using rumble after the Dualshock controllers came out and most fighting games used the six button after it came out.
It was the best controller for Street Fighter 2. I also remember that on Contra Hard Croprt, the xyz buttons switched the move/fire with stand/fire. It was supported quite a bit.
Motion plus is an accessory just like Kinect and Move. The 6 button was a standard controller.

We'll just have to agree to disagree, I guess. You think you're right and I think I'm right. Neither of us will ever admit that the other could be right. No point in continuing this argument.

I don't thik I'm right. I just proved it. I base what I say on facts, not just pure assumption.
