Ten means "best the industry has to offer", and "genre-defining" and "will still be remembered and played decades from now". It means "you will love every minute of playing this game if you can tolerate the genre".
It does not mean perfect, and never has, any more than an A on an essay means "perfect".

Apply that definition you just gave to the raft of 10's handed out and then tell me that they were deserved.
My list of definitions is better than the one you just provided in my opinion as it leaves less room for doubt.

Well, you have to specify who is handing out the tens. I'm not saying my definition of 10 is used by anyone else, but it's used by me. Notice that I've never given a 10.
Using your 10-point scale, the only game I've reviewed for the site that would be a 10 is Skyrim. I think the description of a 10 that I gave applies to Skyrim.
