ECM said: I gotta ask: who are these people that want to play with the Pro Controller over the Gamepad? Do they really exist or are they merely (one of) the spear point(s) that fanboys use to discount the console in general (up there with grousing about Bayonetta 2 and the state of some ports having full HD and 60fps)*? Cause, seriously, who wants *less* functionality? *And Nintendo has it primarily to head such criticism off at the pass. |
Nintendo is adding the pro controller as a shifter to get the Playstation and Xbox owners to come to the Wii. The body is similar to what the 360/PS3 owners are used to because Nintendo wants the more serious gaming crowd to take the Wii U seriously. The Wii U sold well commercially but in the gaming community, it wasnt as well recieved.

The controller was not added. It already existed. Up until a few months ago they were still sending devs the Wii Classic Controller Pro. The Wii U Pro controller is just the Wii Classic Controller Pro with a button layout that looks like the U-Pad.
I'm sorry but, Nintendo does not copy bad copies of their own products.

The first controller has the dual shock layout from the PS2, the second is closer in body to the 360.

Tthe first controller has the Gamecube layout from the Gamecube controller over the first classic controller design which was just a revised SNES controller. The second only appears to look like it has the body of the nonstandard(black) 360controller from that one angle. Noticed that no comparisons of it and the 360 contorller use any other angle than the aboslute front view.

In case you forgotten, the playstation controller was just a copy of the SNES controller. They adlibbed the rumble and and analog idea from the n64's success with them.
The 360 controller is just the GC controler fused with the Dreamcast controller.

Yeah...I can see the metamorphosis, but still its a dual shock layout with the buttons. The dual shock came out a generation before any of those Wii controllers. The 360 controller part is undeniable though, same boomerang body, triggers and all. They just changed the placement of the analogs and kept the start, reset and home buttons.
