Based on trying to help my brother-in-laws iPhone to work, my main experiences with iTunes were desperately trying to get it to sync properly on Windows7. He had tons of music he wanted to sync over but for some reason it just wouldn't go over. Can't rmember how I did it in the end but it was a pain when on other phones I've just copy & pasted.
He oddly hasn't asked me to do the same with his Galaxy SIII which is weird... probably got my niece to do it.
