I don't expect to use this feature a lot- if at all though. Nintendo games are usually best enjoyed alone or on local multiplayer. And even with exceptions such as Mario Kart, F-Zero and Super Smash Brothers where online multiplayer would be a great part of the experience, I really don't see the need to actually talk to my opponents in any of those games.

As for communication outside of the games... people still have phones and computers, don't they?


What about 3rd party titles?  Call of Duty is coming to the Wii U, so I would say it would be used a lot there.
