It's time to face Misty.

I lead with Radish, she leads with Staryu. Radish wipes it out with Vine Whips, but at the cost of about 50% of his health, thanks to three well-placed tackles. When she switches to Starmie, I could go straight to Rol, but have another idea. I send out Turkish to do some damage, including a Poison Sting that poisons it. Only when Turkish has low health do I switch to Rol. Rol's Thundershock bypasses its Hardens and X Defend, allowing for a safe victory.

Man I'm glad I beat Blue first!

Before preparing to leave town, I go to the Center and buy some balls. I stop at a nearby house where I receive a free Bulbasaur, named  Then, I investigate the mystery of the Rocket thief.

It turns out that a local house was invaded by a Rocket thief, who stole a TM. Those bastards! Where could they have possibly gone?

Worst. Police Department. Ever.

I beat him up and take the TM. I'll teach it to somebody later.

On Route 5, I meet a level 5 Jigglypuff. It's name is Habino. I go through the tunnel and emerge on Route 6. Here, I see an Abra, but fail to catch it. I'll fight al the trainers on this route soon enough, but am only dealing with a couple at first in order to travel safely.

Vermillion City is a nice enough place. I pick up an old rod from a geezer, discuss Squirtle welfare with a police officer, and generally get a look around town. Next time, I'll beat up the rest of the trainers to the north, capture some mons, and maybe visit the SS Anne.
