Degausser said: Sony are doing a great job with PSN, I dunno if it's 'overtaken' XBLA yet but it will do. It's gaining far more momentum are Sony seem to have far better initiatives at encouraging indie devs onto their platform and fueling general growth. PS+ has come on leaps and bounds too. Shame we never really get any proper figures for PSN, XBLA has had games break a million - have we ever even heard figures for a PSN game? I think that Battlefield 1942 game broke 1 mil on both platforms but I could of imagined that. |
You mean Battlefield 1943 and it sold more than 1 million units on XBLA alone, but stopped selling much more units soon after (probably because of Bad Company 2)

We have absolutley no records of any PSN million seller. That should give us an idea of how much XBLA games really sell. Visit my thread for more information about XBLA sales: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=142482
In terms of sheer users PSN has a lot more (reasons: being free and PSP users). In terms of sales, PSN won't catch XBLA this gen. (Except you coun't PS1 and PSP games, but that wouldn't be a good comparison as XBLA doesn't include XBOX1 games either)

Considering Sony don't release PSN numbers, how can you be sure how much each game sells?
I seem to recall someone wanting use the amount of "likes/recommendations" a game got as a means of guaging how much was sold. Just because Sony doesn't announce what's sold doesn't mean nothing is sold.

What has Sony to do with that ? Third parties have already reported sales from PSN and XBLA though they mostly don't report the exact split. Then there is Fade LLC who estimates digital numbers just like VGC does it (I think ioi is even involved in there and even more so an old member of our forum - mrstickball) and lastly there are still leaderboards where you could get an idea of how well a game does.
The only PSN game that has a realistic chance at being over 1 million sales is FFVII because it was on top of basically all PSN charts Sony provided. But other than that there is not much else. Journey is breaking sales records for fastest selling PSN game but that doesn't meant at all that it sold more. (and FFVII is a PSOne game, but let's not get into those details)

Unless you can give EXACT numbers of what EVERY single game on PSN has sold, you can't criticise psn's numbers because it seems most of it is just hearsay. I'm sorry but this is rediculous without exact irrefutable facts.
