It's more of a marketing thing than any real information.

They could also use it for apps further down the line though. I doubt that extra 1Gb of RAM is going to be solely reserved for the OS. We may get things like video editing apps (e.g. recording a multiplayer match and editing stuff using the tablet) that use the GPU a bit more.
