CPU: IBM POWER 7 CPU with 4 cores running at 3GHz. It has 8 memory controllers and is (essentially) a modified 8 core POWER 7 CPU designed to run in TurboCore mode constantly. Each core can support 4 threads, and one of the cores is reserved for background OS functionality. Memory: 2GB GDDR5 running at 800MHz. 500MB is reserved for background OS functionality. GPU: Modified RV790 XT with 1200 Stream processors running at 550MHz
Edit: For clarification, Turbocore mode is a feature of thee 8 core Power 7 processor where 4 cores are disabled and the other 4 cores take over their memory controllers. I'm essentially suggesting that the Wii U processor has permanently disabled and removed these 4 cores reducing the manufacturing cost of the CPU while still allowing it to run in turbocore mode. |
I think you're overshooting by a lot with that. That's a $400 system easy with a tablet thrown in. Fat chance it would fit into a case that small without melting it either. Not on a 45nm process for the CPU especially.
If the system was actually that, most if not all the launch games would be 1080p and things like AC3 and some of the other multiplat stuff would just smoke the PS3/360, they'd be able to use higher-end PC assets.
What you've listed there is probably going to be closer to what's under the hood of the Playstation 4 and that thing is probably going to be at least the size of the current PS3 Slim.
