I don't know about "doomed", but I find myself teetering back and forth on the Wii-U. On one hand, you have these franchises that I've grown up with since I was a child (had an NES in 1986, when I was 7) that are surely going to appeal to me, even more so considering it's all going into HD for the first time. On the other hand, the hardware is likely going to be seriously underpowered, it's online capabilities FAR behind Sony and MS, it's multimedia functionality gimped (blu-ray/DVD movie play back etc.) and it's third party support, scarce by comparison. That's not good for me, as I NEED games like GT,GTA and Halo. I love Mario,Zelda,Metroid etc, as I said, I've been playing them since childhood. But I think I'm going to wait and see what the PS4 and 720 look like before diving in.
