Namco and Q Games killed Star Fox. Rare developed a game that wasn't even supposed to be Star Fox at first.

They still threw Starfox into what was formerly Dinosaur Planet and produced a failure that seriously tarnished Star Fox's formerly impeccable image. Assault was nowhere near as bad.

Laughable. A spinoff doesn't and cannot destroy the mainline. Besides, Star Fox Adventures had top notch production values and was a good game.

Assault consisted of about 60 % on-foot missions. That's how you kill an IP.

Adventures was 99% on foot. It's still part of the series. And all the flashy graphics in the world can't cover up a fundamentally flawed concept and bland Zelda-lite gameplay.
