Namco and Q Games killed Star Fox. Rare developed a game that wasn't even supposed to be Star Fox at first.

They still threw Starfox into what was formerly Dinosaur Planet and produced a failure that seriously tarnished Star Fox's formerly impeccable image. Assault was nowhere near as bad.
