well Nintendo doesn't usually give you choices in how to play your game. lets say they do that and in the future decide to do something different should they include all three ways to play a game?

the problem I see in SS is it has many different things that can effect the sales and motion is just one of them the other is the stile, third its a second Zelda which sells less than the first Zelda going by sales. Fourth it has kind of a hub which is different than Zeldas before it (I prefer a world like TP/OoT)

the question is does Nintendo know which one of these is the reason?

That's an interesting question, but I think it would be pretty easy for them to figure it out. Lately I was about to make a thread about an Iwata asks on Zelda SS, before it was released. The major point of contention between Aonuma and Miyamoto was the inclusion of Motion controls in the sword swing. It was the big "let's experiment and see how it goes" kind of thing, where Aonuma had to learn to trust Miyamoto, so much so that Miyamoto had to ask Eguchi san to prove that sword M+ was doable and he did in Wii Sports Resort.

When the sales of SS failed to meet the sales level of TP while the Wii had an installbase of 90M+, it's not really such a challenge to find the culprit imho.

Two styles of play, adapting the enemy battle styles depending on the option chosen, problem solved.
