NSMB2 is an exceptional game in the eyes of reviewers

Hahahaha :P I also find it weird that Fifa and Madden games can constantly get 90's, but Mario games don't. Don't get me wrong I'm a big Fifa fan, but really if anything the 2D Mario games evolve better with every iteration (level designs, co-op, jump mechanics) than Fifa and Madden. That's why I think it's a bit of a double standard. 

I guess it is, but I guess all of the 'exciting' updates to the teams is the major reason why they keep interest so high. And to be fair, they add a lot to each FIFA release. I haven't actually read many NSMB2 reviews, what are the major complaints? Feels old?

That it's 2D? Same level designs, bla bla.. I would bet you that the same people would complain if Nintendo stopped releasing them :|
