Buttons usually are round leadpads that get pressed down and then connect 2 parts of a trace/ conducting path that were disconnected before.
So it seems something is preventing the sides frome being connected again. It really might be the rest of the water that when you press down and then let go keeps connecting the lines. (a pressed button cant be pressed again so this might be the reason you think its not working the system thinks you never let go of the button) Just a guess tho.
I think when the water vaporated it went upwards like vapor usually does and then some rest was gathered in the round "lead pad chambers" (im sorry I lack english words for all this LOL i hope you know what I mean)

And that might be the reason It's not working. You should try put the thing into a bag of rice and then onto a heater or into an oven dont go higher than 50 celsius 122fahrenheit! Better would be somewhere around 38°C / 100°F.
ATTENTION: Be sure to turn off the device completely and if possible try to place the thing so that the buttons that dont work point upwards because vapor will go upwards and if your device is on the wrong side etc it can travel through the device again and get stuck under a more important/ sensitive part

Pretty close to it (probably), but water have a very high electrical resistance which could be the reason why the button presses aren't registered.
V= I*R
If R increases and V or I (whatever the input is, I have no idea how it works inside) is constant, the remaining variable will have unexpected values.
For example, if V is the input and is constant and R increases, I will be lower and never reach the button press threshold.
All of this is hypothetical, though.
Oxides have high electrical resistance too, so if the water have attacked a metallic component the result will be the same. This could happen in the long run even if it works at first. Vapor is more corrosive than liquid water so be careful when drying it, I suppose this is where the dry rice helps.
