| ultraslick said: Opinions are formed from something, not nothing. Yes-senationalizing negative news does get more hits on a website, and some areas of gaming journalism use this tactic. For me personally, and I suspect the same for some of this journalism you are referring to is: Nintendo made Mario 64 which was on the cutting edge of console graphics and unlike anything I had ever seen before I almost shit my pants when I saw Mario 64, we are talking quantum leaps in what had been seen. People remember that type of experience, and want to relive it. So subsequently, these same people are a little disappointed when Nintendo unveils another derivative 2D Mario or Nintendoland.. Where is the holy shit Mario 64 experience that formed my view of Nintendo in the first place. If Nintendo isn't Creating that holy shit moment, then there must be enough people supporting Nintendo land-type titles to make the company financially viable. And that just... Sucks. And that is why the other half of the gaming journalism posts negative articles about Nintendo- because simply put.. They want more, and so do I. |
I certainly don't see it that way but it is a nice interpreation.
The main thing I pointed out, though, is the fact that they is no prescensce of desire or hope for something better. What I'm seeing is hate for the sake of hate and disdain for good news. These writers seem to have an "emotional" investment in this hatred.
The other thing is that if what oniyide and the others say is true about games opinions, then would that been even better for storming up the negative news? The thing is that its not true. Most news article that give unbiased coverage of the Wii U are packed with good will and high expectations in the comments with the occasional anti-Nintendo troll who gets thumbed down to oblivion.
They can't have looked at too many news articles if they think the general opinion is that gamers don't care. If they don't care then the negative news would get no more hits than any other. If gamers didn't like it then(once again) it would serve to bring about even more hits.
Gaming media seems to be suppresing or avoiding good willa for Nintendo.
