Europe and Japan aren't run by Sega of America. Different priorities and different ideas. Sega of America has always followed the beat of a different drum and altered the beats that they didn't feel suited their "preferred" audience. The things that were SEGA's strenght became lost when they got their hands on it. I was waiting for it on the DC myself. Back before I ever had a computer I would go to EB asking if it had come out yet ever weak. It was a huge disappointment when I found out that it was only coming out for the Xbox. SEGA's horrid management has always overrided its appeal and ingenious innovation. It is honestly a dead copmany to me now that Yu Suzuki has left. That means thatthe possibility of a "TRUE" Shenmue 3 is over. There may be a game that has that name sometime in the future but it won't be Shenmue 3 without him writing and directing it. The only thing I'm still looking foward to from them in the American release of PS02. I've played the Japanese version and I must say that it is very good. It would fit the Wii U well. They should bring that to the eshop. |
Gameplay elements can be good or bad with or without him, the story's already written though so that won't change. But isn't Suzuki there in some kind of non-developer role?
