People should actually be thankful that Nintendo doesn't mess with the gameplay, just look at what they've done to other IPs. Metroid went down the shutter and Paper Mario has become a guinea pig for creative gameplay concepts. |
The title clearly says "Game Ideas," not "Gameplay Ideas." I know you probably overlooked this just so you could come in here to flame games you don't appreciate, but this really isn't the thread for that.
I would like to see Nintendo move away from the plastic, super clean look of the NSMB art style. Luckily for me, the Wii U one seems to be taking a direction away from that with the landscaping, but the characters still feel too plastic, clean and squishy.
Aside from the visual style, I also hope Nintendo does animations and voice acting in a way that aren't so child-directed. There are ways to be colorful, wonderous, and creative while not having super cheesy animations and voice acting. The original Mario games did this perfectly all the way up to Mario 64, in my opinion.
Story-wise, the only thing I'd like to see changed is the presentation. Again, making it more like the older Mario games (since they're amazing examples to see) where it was accessible and relatable to almost everyone regardless of age and demographic.
Music is too bubbly, clean, and completely lacking emotion. I want to see new music that evokes emotion and stays forever classic. Do consumers remember and love music from NSMB like old Mario classics? Nope...
Overworld map - I believe NSMB U is adding back an overworld map like SMW had. I miss that. It added more life to the world and a sense of exploration.
