" Well we know the 3DS and the Vita battle for the support of devs, and it goes without saying that when devs choose to support the 3DS, it can often happen that that comes at the expense of the Vita. "

But that right there is the real problem, look at it from the standpoint of, in the market today the developer's with 3rd party game engines that licence their game engines that are making those engines for Smartphones and other smart devices also.

the point is now, the market has changed where as you cannot go by just the handheld games consoles by them selves anymore for market share, because they are no longer by themselves, that's the point. When 3rd party developer's and publisher's are infact looking at the market they are also looking at smart devices for game development. It can no longer be ignored as a lesser platform, and Have not been seen as the primary development platform for mobile devices, and soon smart TV's and topset boxes to be included also. When Samsung, Apple,HTC, vizio etc. are making smart devices that are the same chipset as the smarphones, a single game can be made and ran and the harware sales have outpaced a quarter by Quarter sales of dedicated Game consoles, even Nintendo is outpaced! I do not understand why this is such a problem in sales thread's like this, many people have the idea sofar in this thread already many are acting like Sony has no other choice but to pack it in.

hey they may have to , im not saying there is no chance for that to happen, what i am saying is unlike many in this thread i see what changes Sony is doing to counter the problems they are having. Will it be good enough we will see. for me in My Opinion I think they will, due to the fact that entry point for Playstation Mobile is very cheap, and since Sony's own 1st party studios will be making games for it also, means they mush have some ideas to change the PSVita's fortunes, as is with them soon to get samsung aboard, I think the PSVita stands to get alot of interesting games for the platform outside of just Sony and the main 3rd party publisher's.

I guess the question boils down to, "how much potential market remains in the dedicated handheld space (Vita, 3DS)?".

If still alot, then the Vita is not doing well. Certainly it is not getting nearly as big a portion of the pie as Nintendo is. That's something we don't disagree on. 3rd party devs are making money on the 3DS, are they making money on the Vita? That's an important question to ask. They may end up saying "this is hopeless, we won't support the platform". It's possible. And there goes 3rd party support. You can't just ignore that if you're leading the Vita. It's not a good situation to be in.

As for the Mobile markets, how is Sony doing on that front? The iOS devices are selling in the hundreds of millions, how is the experia play fairing? 2m? That's relatively not enough to compete.
