The game is a 6/10 at best, so Jim Sterling hasn't been overly harsh. It's hard to say how this game got so many good scores, but it was probably because Sakaguchi and Uematsu worked on it. Two legendary figures in the industry, so you can't give one of their games anything but a good score.

Anyway, the game is lacking on all ends. An average to good soundtrack, quite frequent framerate problems, extremely limited battle mechanics, gameplay being seen as something that had to be done ("Let's get this over with, so that we can continue telling our average to lame story.") and lack of content. It's a JRPG that has trouble to reach the 25 hours mark, including the unsatisfying sidequests.

Anyone who buys this game should set their expectations very low. You are better off by not buying it at all though.

Woah, so much low key hatred for this game.

I thought this game was fantastic and "frequent" frame rate problems? There are very few and they happen in big battles that I could name on one hand.

"It's a JRPG that has trouble to reach the 25 hours mark" What? The game was intentionally made to be only around 30-40 hours. Its not struggling. Its doing what its suppose to.

I say anyone who isn't biased against RPGs that come from Japan and NIntendo will enjoy this game greatly, especially if they are tired of the same of thing that you get over and over again on the PS3. Some people are really burnt about all these games being Nintendo only.

I loved the battle system for this game and I am looking foward to its next iteration.

I'm sure those are Rol's reasons lol

I wouldn't know what his reasons are, but I saw it a lot and still see it. I remember for a good while you find a single mention of the Last Story without some dude whining about it being on a Nintendo system and not on the PS3.
