it is pretty obvious that cod will have much more players than halo 4, it's a bigger franchise, why shouldn't it? especially in europe halo was never super huge. it's also pretty sure that halo 4 won't sell as much as halo 3. first of all, you give an explanation why mw3 didn't sell so much (because of the general market), which means if that is true, it surely would be the same for halo 4. but that wouldn't be a halo problem, that would be a market problem and wouldn't have something to do with the franchise (if it would be a franchise problem, why do you use that to explain cod decline?) and secondly, it will never ever sell as much as halo 3 in the long run. halo 3 sold over years pretty good, halo 4 won't do that. i believe i did never read someone saying halo 4 will sell more than 3, it's not like that has something to do with "i believe halo is on a decline" i said that to you in another thread, you always say you think halo is on a decline but i say it was on a decline already the last years and there is no decline anymore. reach was really not that popular, not many who prefer reach over halo 2/3 . halo was the only "huge" multiplayer fps until we got mw. it should be clear that now with more competition like more popular battlefields and cods, other games don't sell as much anymore. i would bet that even games not in the genre sell less since we have the huge cod success because many only buy one or two games at holidays and one is cod for most. but you could also say that without halo and battlefield or without halo and cod, battlefield or cod could sell better, they have the same problem that they have halo as competition. not as much because halo isn't as big as cod but still... at least halo 4 won't sell less than reach the first year or so if the game will get good reviews and word of mouth (not sure what a decline we will see with the nextbox one year after release) . if it won't, it could sell even less. |
Yes, there is harder competition among the big shooters today, but I believe COD is the winner. COD sales hurt Halo much more than vice versa. The new COD will be the game to get for the vast majority.
I believe Blops 2 will sell around the same as MW3 while Halo 4 will sell much less than Halo 3.
Blops 2 will probably sell 13 million on X360 and Halo 4 only 8-9 million. And on Xbox Live I believe there will be three times as many players playing Blops 2 than Halo 4 at any given moment next year. And both of these two important statistics will cause people to ask if Halo is relevant anymore (which of course it is, but those articles will be written, mark my words).
