Gaming went down the shutter for the most part this generation. It was mostly cheaply produced trash and expensively produced trash.

It's kinda funny (but mostly sad) that music have gone pretty much the same direction: there's a far greater variaty of genres, but all the hits sound alike. And I'm not just saying that. It's science.
