If there is no netcode then how does it run on the internet?

Notice the part where he suggests that EA would give Activision bad netcode for CoD? In games netcode is basically the system that keeps clients synced up when playing over a network.
|
Then wouldn't there net code be needed to keep Origin synced up with whatever network is hosting the current game in play and Origins own servers? How else would the integrity of the connection be maintained? It would make no sense to simply log into origin and then have them complete shift all information to another party. There would be no point.

CoD doesn't use servers it is peer to peer for multiplayer anyway. Unified freinds lists with online status etc would be handled via PHP I would imagine, which I have never seen called netcode. I am not sure what else would need to be synced.
