Anyone else prefer the older arcade-styled shooters over the modern 'realistic' shooters?

Sometimes I like the fast-paced action of CoD, and sometimes I prefer something with less immediate action. Battlefield 3 for example, battles don't always last very long, but sometimes they can.

I remember having an intense dogfight with this guy on Kharg Island. It lasted probably 5 minutes, but it felt like 20. The upper hand exchanged between he and I a few times times, but he finally managed to shoot down my jet. I hadn't had such a rush playing a game in a long time.

Afterwards we exchanged messages with 'good fight' and the such. It is still the best dogfight I'd been in, and it was awesome, even though I lost it.
