I know, that's the thing, the race against teh ghost and the shark at least makea LITTLE sense when mario dies... The penguins not so much so, but I don't recall having a timed race against any of them.
The bunnies though are supposed to be your cute little allies, adn they're just playing a game, but you still die. I just found that really disturbing.
