The whole idea behind your post was that you thought the idea behind Batman had been done before in other mediums. Then you say The Avengers is just badass, awesome etc. with no motifs. So because TDKR actually made an effort to have serious themes and motifs you think it's worse for it? I saw badassery in TDKR, extreme badassery and a few laughs. |
I am a little confused where you saw the badassery in batman, because I remember seeing Batman in a total of maybe 6 scenes, catwoman and Bruce had more screen time.
And you are exactly right. Batman tried to explore areas, and deeper meanings. It tried to bring deep thoughts, its goal was to get you to wonder.
None of that is true of the Avengers. Its goal isn't to make you think, or wonder, or really anything beyond what I dub in layman's terms, "awesome." It did what it tried to do exceptionally well. What Batman tried to do it did well, but not exceptionally so.
This is what you get when you try to compare two movies which aren't really even trying to be similar. I'm sorry if it rains on your peaise parade.
tl;dr: I will choose the apple that tastes better than almost all other apples, than the orange that tastes really good but is not the best orange I've had.
