Good news/bad news. Bad news: Sacramento itself is boring as hell. You could hit up the old town, but that will tide you over for a day at most.
Good news: you're within an hour of a bunch of great places. Sonoma and Napa are an hour west of you, if you're into wines. San Francisco is an hour to the southwest. The Gold Country is an hour north of you. It has plenty of Gold Rush era tourist attractions, and some great spelunking, as well as river rafting. The Sierras are an hour east, if you like hiking. And if you love nature in general, go two hours southeast to Yosemite. The giant Sequoia trees still awe me every time.
