Sony in general is in deep sh*t and the Playstation department is one of the healthy ones. So they probably target high profits by keeping the price of the PS3 high, rather than going after simple sale numbers at a lower profit.

Healthy? Last year SCE lost 1.2 Billion US$. Financial services is the healthy one.

My bad for generalizing, the PS3 is doing well not the PSvita. But I think my point stands.
